Privacy policy

No accounts and no sign-up forms. We don't ask for your name or email. The only thing you can type into is the optional chat assistant below.
Cookies: the site sets none. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
Offline app: if you install VRAMNeeded as an app, your browser caches our pages so they open offline. That cache stays on your device.
Analytics: none are installed yet. If we add privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics later, we'll name the tool here first.
Ads and affiliate links: none are live yet. If they go live, their providers may set their own cookies under their own policies, and we'll list them here.
Hosting: our future web host may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security.

Chat assistant

The "Ask" button opens an optional AI chat assistant. It loads only when you tap it.

Where your messages go: what you type in the chat is sent through our small relay server (a Cloudflare Worker) to xAI, the company behind Grok, so their model can write a reply. The page you're on is sent too, so the answer can fit it.
What xAI keeps: xAI says it stores API requests and responses, encrypted, for 30 days for auditing in case of suspected abuse or misuse, then deletes them automatically. It says it does not train its models on this data. See xAI's security FAQ.
What we keep: we don't store or log chat messages. Our relay keeps only a running total of estimated chat cost for the month, and a short-lived, scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a couple of minutes to limit each visitor to 10 messages a minute. The conversation disappears when you close or reload the page.
Please don't enter personal information such as your name, email, phone number or account details.
Answers can be wrong. The assistant uses the numbers on this site, but it's an AI. Check the tables on each model page before you buy or rent hardware.
